Each year, the UWC Eswatini national committee receives offers of entry from the UWC schools and colleges which includes financial aid, for which we select students to study the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. UWC Eswatini follows a thorough and well-rounded selection process to identify motivated and talented young individuals who align with UWC’s values and mission.

Please make sure you find out as much as possible about UWC before going ahead with your application. It is important that you understand the aims of the organisation and the commitment involved in the programmes that are offered. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Important dates
- 1 December 2025 – Application period opens
- 21 February 2026 – Application closes – All applicants write entry test at Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA
- March 2026 – Successful candidates will be invited for selection day interviews
- March 2026 – Final candidates informed and nominated to UWC schools
- April 2026 – UWC Schools confirm/reject nominated students
- May 2026 – Final students awarded UWC admission and financial aid
1. Application stage
The first step in the selection process is submitting an application. This includes:
- Completing an online application form with personal details, academic background, extracurricular activities, and motivations for applying to UWC.
- Submitting essays or short responses to demonstrate critical thinking and commitment to UWC values.
- Providing references from teachers, mentors, or community leaders.
- Uploading academic transcripts and other required documents.
- Signed permission from the parent or legal guardian.
2. Selection stage
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a multi-step selection process, which typically includes:
- Tests and Written Assessments: Each candidate will write four tests of 30 minutes each. Three of these tests are your choice of subject to write, and the options are:
- English, Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Economics, Geography, History, Business Studies
- Group Activities: Candidates engage in collaborative problem-solving tasks and discussions to assess teamwork, leadership, and adaptability.
- Individual Interviews: A panel interview where applicants discuss their motivations, aspirations, and alignment with UWC’s values.
- Project Presentations: Candidates may be asked to present a personal project or initiative they have worked on that reflects their commitment to making a positive impact.
3. Nomination stage
After selections, the National Committee nominates the most promising candidates for placement at UWC schools and colleges. Successful applicants will:
- Receive an offer for a UWC place, which may be fully or partially funded depending on demonstrated need (all applicants will be requested to submit financial information to this effect). This is called a nomination.
- Have the opportunity to accept or decline the nomination.
- Complete necessary paperwork and preparations for enrollment.
